from above is from our (oh yea i'm married to casey belgard and we have a super fantastic dog named marley sue belgard - that's right she has a middle name) mission trip to nicaragua - it was awesome and i'll tell you more about it later. it inspired the title for the blog and some action on my part in my regular life where i sell bible study (yes i sell bible study).
i learned on this particular trip (my first of hopefully many more mission trips with my hubby) that we have been given much more than we need, and are responsible for leaving that behind to others i.e. "dust on the road". i want to leave what has been given to me behind for someone else - whether it be in sight, in thought or in life itself - i know i can't hoard what has been given to me for god's glory. leave it and leave on the road that will lead others to him - that's my soap box for the day.
just a few thought and sights from our trip in november 2008 (i gotta catch you up)...
i love food i mean absolutely love it, but there are so many that don't have a quarter the amount of food that i even throw away in a day - what a waste. while i was preparing for our trip to nicaragua i asked fervently what it was that i needed to bring for the people we might see there. i know they need to know you and know your word, but what is something tangible i can give. i waited...
i'm impatient...but i continued to wait till i knew just what it was. and then i knew...apples bring them apples. so i did and it was truely amazing to see their faces.
so you know when you listen (which i really have a hard time with - especially when i have to be patient and listen - just ask my mom) and obey...let me just say that again so they're next to each other and you have to read them uninterrupted...when you listen and obey or simply do what he has prompted you to - the lord can really use you to bring glory to his name. these kids probaly haven't had fruit in quite a while... if ever, but for me 20 or so dollars bought 60 apples - unbelievable.
and i guess that's also from my soap box too...
